Second Review for Regency Romp!!
Wow, Regency Romp is getting the best reviews yet, and as this was probably my favorite short to write so far, I'm actually very, very pleased to see it's continuing success with reviewers that it comes to.

This is my second review from Kwips and Kritiques, the first one being my very first review I ever got, and that for Masquerade Vol 2 in October last year.

Like that story, Laudanum is a dark narrative, not exactly a conventional romance, and diving straight into the BDSM lifestyle. This is what Jennifer had to say about it:

Madam Moon’s establish seemed the perfect place for Juliana to hide, even if the situation is less than ideal. Still, allowing her body to be sold in Madam Moon’s establishment is infinitely better than the fate in store for her at the hands of her father’s associate upon her father’s death. But Juliana wasn’t at all prepared to deal with a man like Frederick Barrington – not for one night, and especially not for the entire weekend he has paid the Madam for.

Nikki Watson’s entry in Regency Romp is a little different, to say the least. This is not your typical love story, but her characters find love together, nonetheless. Frederick and Juliana exhibit clearly that love comes in many flavors, and lovers of both historicals and BDSM will love this little nugget as much as I did.

Meanwhile, I have started on my second Of Elves and Men novel, and the title came quickly to me this time: Haunted. So far, I have introduced a death, a love interest, a masked ball, and a character you are supposed to hate. Still, it is not coming along as quickly as the first one, but after the brain drain I found after finishing Ascent, I think, perhaps, this is a good thing. *smiles*

I've been very busy, and I suppose that's a good thing; keeping me out of mischief and stuff. How about you? Haven't heard from you in a while!

Juggling three works-in-progress (Apocalypse Incarnation, Insensate, and Fool's Game,) has kept me very busy as well! I was thinking about you today and our collaboration. I need to do some research on Wicca as I don't have a very deep understanding of it. Also plan to finally order Spiral soon so I can get a feel for your writing style.

Oh fantastic! I was thinking about our collaborative project a couple of days ago. I'm glad that you commented to me here to tell me it was still on your mind. *smiles* Are all your three projects aimed at AA?

Only the Apocalypse Woman sequel. Insensate is fantasy/horror and Fool's Game is epic sci fi so they're outside AA's focus. I still think it's funny that I just started writing erotica on a lark and it turns out to be how I broke into publishing. I've got a bunch of ideas for AA worthy stories but they'll probably never get written given how much workload I've already created for myself.

*grins* I found the same thing. I was really surprised that I came into publishing through romance, but I've realised that with a little bit of tweaking, most of the stuff I would write can fit. The only other genre I've ever really concentrated on is fantasy, and we all know how well romantic fantasy works. *grins*

Indeed we do! Honestly I find my stories end up having sexuality in them no matter how much I might intend otherwise. Right now it looks like Insensate's zombie protagonist might have as many as three love interests and I'd barely planned on there being one.

Zombie lovers?? Well, that's certainly interesting! Where are you thinking of pushing that towards?

I don't know yet. It's too early in the story for me to clearly see the end. I can safely say there won't be any on-camera zombie sex, though, so it will definately remain in the category of mainstream fantasy fiction. It's going to have more gore and sadism than I usually write, though. It'll be a fun challenge as a writer to see how well I pull that off.

On the subject of zombie sex, someone on my friends list recently posted a trailer for a porn flick called Dawna of the Dead. Yeah. That was weird...
